Smooth DC-Link Y-Source Inverters: Suppression of Shoot-Through Current and Avoiding DC Magnetism

The Y-source impedance network is truly referred to as the origin of magnetically coupled source inverters. key characteristics, including high boost capability and design flexibility, are associated with inductor turn ratio. However, magnetic element brings some practical challenges, such voltage spikes, shoot-through (ST) current, bulky inductors. This article proposes two new inverters clamped dc-link voltage. Due ability, they suitable for single-stage gain inversions. Additionally, significant reduction in amplitude ST current leads a total power loss capacity reactive component. Another attractive characteristic that Y-shaped inductor's stored energy no longer affected by rating converter, result zero dc magnetizing current. All these contribute efficiency density proposed converters. guidelines components presented thorough comparison state art carried out. achievements then confirmed through extensive tests on 500 W laboratory setup.
